We Weren't Ready For These Firsts.

On Tuesday afternoon, as Sophie was toddling around on the grass, she fell and caught herself with her left hand. She promptly started crying and nothing - NOTHING - would calm her down.

When she finally stopped crying, I made the mistake of shifting her in my arms. And she started crying again. Her arm appeared to be bothering her so Pascal called her pediatrician, who was on vacation. OF COURSE.

We decided to take her to the emergency room. Better safe than sorry . . .

We loaded up by 6:30, checked in at 6:55, waited until 8:30 (and fed a tired baby in her carseat to avoid any unnecessary movement!), saw the doctor for a physical exam of the arm and had two x-rays which revealed a wee fracture near her wrist. Sophie received her first cast (to be worn for two looooooong weeks of wardrobe adjustments and no baths) and we were out the door at 9:30, with Sophie falling asleep barely out of the parking lot.

Here she is the day after, getting used to her new "accessory":

P.S. See the pool in the background? It had been purchased THE DAY BEFORE. We did let her stand in it because it was so warm out :)

Oh my goodness! Poor thing! And now you drag her off to Spain? Bad enough to have a broken bone but to endure the boredom of Spain... AGAIN. Yawn.

Seriously though, I hope she's not too traumatized (you either). :(
