5w6d, Hindsight Is Always 20/20

Boy, having a baby does not leave a lot of time to blog! I've been working on the attached, oh, for 5 weeks now . . .

**********
Many moons ago, when my doctor told me that the typical hospital stay for a delivery was 4-5 days, I panicked. Seriously?!? My idea: get in, get out, settle at home with baby. The reality: the French DO care! I wish everyone got an extended stay. It was a vacation (except for the food): my health was monitored every day, the baby's health was monitored every day, three meals plus a snack were brought every day, and my only job was to dote on Sophie. I was kind of sad to be discharged on day 6.

**********
We had a lot of visitors in the hospital and the first week after we got home, and they all brought gifts! Sophie is spoiled with so many cute outfits and toys. I'm still working on the Thank You notes.

With the arrival of Sophie, there have been a few perks from France's Social Security. One of them is 32 hours of house cleaning service. For eight weeks, someone comes once a week for four hours and cleans my pigsty of a house. One less thing to worry about! I will be sad when the eight weeks are up. I hope to be managing my time better by then so that cleaning will get done :) Another perk is that I get paid to be a mom! I will receive around $200/month for three years. It's not a lot, but it will pay for fancy chlorine-free diapers, fancy organic wipes, fancy clothes, her room, etc.

**********
Pascal has been near Paris since the 15th. He is taking the train home this weekend and my to-do list is long! I hope to get more pics uploaded, as I found an easier way to transfer them from the camera to the blog.

5w, Beating The Heat

It was 91 degrees today so Sophie went sockless for the first time and loved it! I tried to get a photo of her cute little piggies but someone wouldn't cooperate:
